May 17, 2020 4 pm – Outreach Phone Caller Training — Thank you again to the volunteers who made the phone calls to every family in our community before Pesaḥ. The phone calls are one way we help keep our kehillah connected. We’re continuing to phone congregants who requested that we keep in contact with them. Our volunteers do errands, including grocery/prescription or other deliveries, and tech training on Zoom, Facetime and Skype. Several resources are also available for other more specific needs.
Three months into this situation, the synagogue anticipates making a second round of phone calls to check in on everyone again. We know people have undergone changes, and there are more changes coming. The province is beginning to open up. What does this mean for people? We want congregants to know we continue to be here and available.
Feedback from volunteer callers has let us know that they want training on how to handle phone calls more gracefully and that more structure for the phone calls might be useful.
On Sunday May 17, 2020 at 4:00 pm, Outreach’s Rachel Levy is offering a 30-40 minute training session for those making phone calls to the community and anyone who would like to make calls. We request that anyone phoning congregants on behalf on the Synagogue please attend this Zoom training. Please tune in to pick up some important guidelines.
For example: When should you ask: Would you like me to ask the Rabbi to phone you?
Who do you call if someone is feeling ill, emotionally upset or if they’ve fallen or simply need groceries? How do you follow up a phone call that emotionally touched you?
Please send an email to Rachel Levy firstname.lastname@example.org or Jill Swartz email@example.com to receive your zoom link for the Sunday 4 pm, May 17 , 2020 session.
