Emanu-El plants 24 saplings

Is that deep enough...

On Sunday, February 9, 2020 a passionate crowd gathered at Beacon Hill Park (Lover’s Lane, near Cook and Dallas). Both young and old put shovels into the moist earth and planted saplings to celebrate Tu Bishvat, the Jewish New Year of the Trees. Douglas Fir, Western Hemlock and Maple saplings found new homes. Rabbi Matt on his guitar inspired participants to sing. A Kabbalistic-infused seder subsequently took place at the synagogue.  A big shout-out goes to the City of Victoria staff who assisted us with the hands-on planting, and provided education.  Todah rabah to all who took part in helping green our environment, and to those who contributed to help cover the costs of the plants (donations are always accepted).  The Adult Education and Religious Services Committees who organized this event are grateful for the way the congregation came forward and supported this event.
