Play Club

Play Club

Preliminary meeting on Monday, October 28, 7–8:30 pm at Congregation Emanu-El — Art, like the Torah, is meant to be interpreted. Come use your interpretive skills in conversation about plays and their meaning. Instead of asking whether we like or dislike a play, we will investigate how meaning is constructed, and ask questions about the play’s intentions and resonance.

Facilitated by Rachel Ditor, there will be a preliminary meeting on Monday, October 28, 7–8:30 pm at the synagogue to go over scheduling, tickets, and the approach we’ll take in conversation.

Plays and Discussion Dates:

  • Bang Bang by Kat Sandler, The Belfry Theatre, October 29—November 24, 2019
  • Fado by Elaine Avila, Puente Theatre at The Metro, November 14—16

Group discussion about both plays: Monday, November 18, 7—9 pm

  • Oh My God by Anat Gov, Bema Production/Congregation Emanu-El, opens January 16, 2020
  • Revisor by Crystal Pite and Jonathon Young, Kidd Pivot/Royal Theatre, February 7 & 8 at 7:30 pm
