Socks for our Neighbours in Need

Socks 4

Once again Michael Bloomfield has picked up the challenge of getting warm socks for people in need as cold and rain approach. Where once the socks were donated, the past few years he has needed to raise about $7,000 for 7,500 pairs of socks. Your help is needed to find another $2,000 at $25, $50, $100 a time to reach our goal. Businesses large and small have donated about $5000 and La-Z-Boy is covering shipping from Toronto.

Donations can be made online at https://coolaid.org/donate/  marking your donation SOCKS 2018 OR by mailing a cheque to:

Please mark your donation SOCKS 2018.

Michael began this effort with Avodah and Congregation Emanu-El’s social action team. Over the past 10 years we have distributed about 80,000 pair to approximately 30 agencies in Victoria and on Salt Spring and the South Island who receive socks free of charge to help their clients. This campaign helps many people and does considerable good for inter-faith and inter-community cooperation. Cool-Aid and the Jewish community have been great partners in this effort.

This is not an appeal for Avodah, which has other good works to support. However, we would be grateful if each of you individually considered a donation as some have in the past few years. Every $25, $50, $100 donation (or whatever you like) will be appreciated and help us pay for the socks. The socks have been ordered and should be here by early December. Charitable receipts will be issued by Cool-Aid.
