The Original Deed, which will be staged November 15, 16, 18 and 19 at 7 pm in Congregation Emanu-El sanctuary, tells the story of an old man trying to hold onto his best memories, and to forget some of his worst, as he struggles to save his synagogue. But it’s really about family, the family of origin, the family we grew into, and the greater family beyond our relatives.
Most of us know that no matter what our other successes or failures are, we must get family “right” to live a good life. Most families are complex, a stew of mixed emotions seasoned with contradictions.
- Who has argued with their dad for days but still loved him?
- Who was both inspired and disappointed by a brother on the same day?
- Who ran away from family, but then ran back, again and again?
- And who loved a granddaughter more than her father, your own child?
Tickets are available at Ticket Rocket http://www.ticketrocket.co/event/details/101436/the-original-deed for $20, $15 for students.
