Yom Iyun: Jewish cemeteries & the burial of non-Jews

Jewish Cemetery

Sunday, October 29, 2 – 4 pm: In an era where there are many multi-faith marriages, Congregation Emanuel has arranged for a Yom Iyun (day of learning) focused on the halakhah (Jewish jurisprudence) applicable to the burial of non-Jews in Jewish cemeteries.
The learning will be based on Jewish textual sources, primarily Talmud and rabbinic responsa, and commentary. Please join us at the synagogue for an exploration of this topic.

  1. Unfortunately I cannot be there as I will have just arrived back from work abroad. But this is a most timely discussion and I would have some personal reflective perspectives to add, if any such opportunity is indeed presented. If I can put these together prior to the event from across the ocean I will do so; but if not, I would look forward to any related report.
