Provincial Peace & Disarmament Summit

May 12 & 13, University of Victoria, David Strong Building

You’re warmly invited to participate in the
Provincial Peace and Disarmament Summit scheduled for May 12thevening
(7 pm – 9 pm) and May 13thday (10:00 am – 5:30 pm) at UVic’s David
Strong building, Room C118 (see map below).

This is an information-sharing and action-oriented event to talk
about Canada’s war decisions, Canadian foreign and defence policy, militarism
and gender, peace education, art and activism. The program includes a film
screening of A Bold Peace, about Costa Rica’s movement toward demilitarisation,
and many speakers, workshops and panels to inspire a movement for peace and
nonviolence.

The Summit is free;

Included in the program will
be a workshop on Faith Community and Peace Community Cooperation, to be
led by Bill Geimer, Meagan Devauld and Gita Badiyan.  A detailed program
will soon be available. 

The Provincial Peace and
Disarmament Summit is organized by the Vancouver Island Peace and Disarmament
Network and co-sponsored by the UVic Centre for Global Studies and the Social
