Emanu-El—The Little Shul That Could—has lined up a fascinating array of scholars and
subjects to engage our minds and hearts this Shavuot.

Shavuot is the holiday where we mark the
receiving of Torah on Mt. Sinai. It is the moment in our calendar cycle where
we mark the time when all of us were present under the Mount Sinai and G.
revealed self to each of us in very personal and meaningful way. According to
tradition our ancestors slept in on the morning when we were poised to receive
Torah.

As a means of cosmic repair (tikkun), we stay up all night engaged in
learning. We often define Torah in a very narrow and limiting way and forget
that biology holds Torah, mathematics holds Torah. This year’s learning will
feature congregants who are involved in cutting edge thinking in their fields.
Each presenter will present their work through the lens of Torah. The amazing
lineup will be coming out in next week’s newsletter.

You can stay for a few presenters or stay for the whole night and
join us for a sunrise service. There will be great nosh, lots of coffee and
cheesecake.

This Leil Shavuot will be a night of friendship, learning and mind
expansion you don’t want to miss.
