Shabbat in a Shoebox

Shabbat in a Shoebox Is a new initiative promoted by our Emanu El Membership team, aimed specifically at those of us who live in small apartments, without the space to host a Shabbat dinner but who would nevertheless like the opportunity to host a Friday night dinner.

The initiative is also aimed at those of us who, for whatever reason, sometimes find ourselves on our own of a Friday night, who enjoy hosting, but find it more fun to share in the preparation, in the joy and the work involved, by teaming up with someone else, to co-host.

Recently, Shabbat in a Shoebox held its first Shabbat Dinner, which proved to be very successful, so we know the formula works.  Devorah Stone has kindly offered to coordinate, so if either of the above scenarios speaks to you and you are interested in sharing your space on Shabbat and/or co-hosting a Shabbat Dinner, please add your name to our list by contacting Devorah by email only please.
